Easter Sunday Message from the General Secretary, Rev. Dr. Gina Jacobs-Strain, American Baptist Churches USA Office of the General Secretary

GOLDEN HOUR

Matthew 28:6 – He is not here; for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay

Christ is risen! Christ is risen indeed!

On this Resurrection Sunday, we proclaim with joy and gratitude that death does not have the final word. The tomb is empty, love has overcome fear, and God has brought new life where there once was despair. The resurrection of Jesus Christ stands at the heart of our faith and at the center of our hope.

Easter Sunday reminds us that God is always at work bringing hope even in loss and healing out of brokenness. The risen Christ meets us not only in moments of celebration, but also in the places where we are weary, wounded, or uncertain. With tender mercy, Jesus calls us by name and invites us into renewed faith and purpose.

As American Baptists, we share the Good News of a risen Savior through lives shaped by discipleship, love, repentance, and forgiveness. We follow the risen Christ as learners and servants—growing in faith, caring for our neighbors, and bearing witness to God’s transforming grace. Through the fruits of the Spirit……. we spread the love of Christ and participate in God’s healing work in the world.

God calls us to be communities of fellowship, spiritual formation that nurture faith, and disciples who walk alongside each other.

On this joyful day, may our hearts be lifted by the promises of Easter. May the power of Christ’s risen life renew our faith, strengthen our discipleship, enhance our fellowship and guide us as bearers of light and joy. May our prayers for peace and mercy touch every heart as we are united in every effort to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
