VALLEY FORGE, PA (ABNS 11/20/13)—American Baptist Women’s Ministries is hosting two national events in 2014: an intergenerational retreat and a cruise. “A Time to Serve: Deepening Relationships,” the intergenerational retreat, will be at the Green Lake Conference Center in Green Lake, Wisconsin, from Saturday, July 26, through Tuesday, July 29. Early bird registration fees are in effect until April 30, 2014. “A Time to Serve: Preparing to Serve,” a cruise in partnership with American Baptist Women in Ministry, departing from Port Canaveral/Orlando, Florida, is from Friday, September 19, through Monday, September 22. “A Time to Serve: Deepening Relationships,” the intergenerational retreat for women and girls, will be facilitated by Rev. Yana J.C. Pagan, American Baptist clergy, chaplain, and professor of Justice at Esperanza College of Eastern University, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It will include opportunities for deepening relationships across generations through Bible study and worship, focused conversation, and fellowship. Early bird registration is due by April 30, 2014; housing arrangements are to be made through the Green Lake Conference Center. More information and online or downloadable registration forms are available at www.abwministries.org/retreat.
“A Time to Serve: Preparing to Serve,” the cruise for women in partnership with American Baptist Women in Ministry, features keynote speakers Rev. Dr. Debora Jackson, executive director of Minister’s Council, ABCUSA, and Dr. Lisa L. Croft, family practitioner. Special music offerings during worship will be brought by performing artist Joyce Sinclair Lake. The cruise will offer participants the opportunity to explore how we are prepared to serve as effective disciples for Christ through attending to our spiritual and physical health. In addition to worship and Bible study sessions together on the ship, participants will have time to explore Nassau and CocoCay, and all that the ship has to offer. The registration deadline for the cruise is January 17, 2014; reservations made after this date are subject to availability and pricing. Information and online or downloadable registration forms for the program, as well as information for booking cruise arrangements, are at www.abwministries.org/cruise.
AB Women’s Ministries Executive Director Virginia Holmstrom expressed her delight in the new events offered in 2014. “These two national events are different than any we’ve offered in the past 62 years! It’s a chance for women and girls to try something new with AB Women’s Ministries. I am truly excited for the opportunity to deepen relationships across generations in a weekend retreat in July at the Green Lake Conference Center, and I’m counting the days until the cruise event with my Christian sisters. Come along, all aboard!”
Flyers and bulletin inserts are available on the website for use in promoting these events in churches; links for downloading these promotional helps are available on the webpage for each event.
