VALLEY FORGE, PA (ABNS 4/9/13)—Mission Summit 2013: An American Baptist Biennial Gathering will be held in Overland Park/Kansas City, Kansas, from June 21-23, 2013, at the Overland Park Convention Center. A number of pre-biennial events will also take place, beginning on June 17, 2013. Media Correspondents for the event are asked to register with American Baptist Churches USA by Friday, June 7, 2013.
American Baptist biennial events are held every two years in different locations across the United States and Puerto Rico. The keynote speakers for Mission Summit 2013 will be Dr. Michelle Alexander, Rev. Dr. Yam Kho Pau, Rev. Dr. John Upton, and Rev. Matthew Sturtevant. They will speak at the evening worship sessions during the three day event. For more information about speakers, click here.
This Mission Summit/Biennial will include celebrations of the 150th anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation, the 200th anniversary of Ann and Adoniram Judsons’ arrival in Burma, and the 375th anniversary of the founding of the First Baptist Church in America. In addition to these celebrations, there will be inspirational times of worship. The Mission Summit, the heart of the biennial experience, will provide table group discussions around the American Baptist Transformed by the Spirit initiative and opportunities for networking.
