Vice President

Bill Poland was elected Vice President of American Baptist Churches USA during the June 2024 Board of General Ministries meeting following a nomination from the ABCUSA Nominating Committee. Poland will serve the remainder of former Vice President Thomas Ross, Jr.’s term (who resigned due to health reasons), through December 31, 2025.

Poland attends the First Baptist Church of Hayes, Kansas, where he has served on the church board as Treasurer. In the American Baptist Churches of the Central Region, he is a Past ABMen President (1990’s) and Past Region President (2022-2023) and is currently serving in the role of Past President for the region.

Nationally, Poland began serving on the Board of General Ministries in 2018. He is married with two grown children and four grandchildren, and retired in 2022 following 34 years as a Kansas State Trooper.
