VALLEY FORGE, PA (ABNS 4/8/22)—With a grant from American Baptist Home Mission Societies’ (ABHMS) Intercultural, Leadership Empowerment and Discipleship ministries, First Baptist Church of Seattle and the Rev. Carolyn Shimabukuro have continued their project to design video resources for prayer and meditation that follow the seasons of the Christian calendar.
The latest offerings are labyrinth walk videos for Holy Week, featuring the rich and deep themes of Maundy Thursday and Good Friday. Both videos are an invitation to quietness, reflection and prayer. Each video is 30 minutes in length and includes a program guide. The labyrinth walk engages the soul with music, scripture, visuals and creative art. Most importantly, they offer intentional time to slow down and tune one’s heart to God.
Although these videos have been released for Maundy Thursday and Good Friday, the themes of servanthood and communion and the message of the cross are not bound to once a year. These videos can be useful inroads for communing with God and caring for our spiritual lives at any season.
“Please share these videos with your circles of connections within the church as well with those who are seeking,” says Shimabukuro. “Be prayerful and creative in using them not only for individual use but also in group settings. You may want to encourage members of your congregation to pray about how they can share them with family members and friends.”
