ABHMS Provides Grant for Immersive Labyrinth Walk Video

VALLEY FORGE, PA (ABNS 12/1/21)—Thanks to a grant from American Baptist Home Mission Societies’ (ABHMS) Intercultural, Leadership Empowerment and Discipleship ministries, First Baptist Church of Seattle and the Rev. Carolyn Shimabukuro have designed a video resource for prayer and meditation with themes that follow the seasons of the Christian calendar. The current video is a 30-minute guided immersive labyrinth walk for Advent.

This guided labyrinth walk engages the soul with music, scripture, visuals and creative art.  Most importantly, it offers an intentional time to slow down and tune one’s heart to God.

According to a written report from the church, the impetus for the project was “to minister to the people of our American Baptist churches and ministries during this COVID-19 pandemic, when we are restricted in our ability to gather in person. We need to develop new and engaging ways for people to grow and be vibrant in their faith and service to God.”

Pastors and leaders are encouraged to share the video link with their congregations. The purpose is to nurture one’s interior life with God, deepening a relationship with Christ and the Holy Spirit, resulting in ongoing transformation, increased Christ-likeness and Spirit-filled Christ-followers.

Use your personal device—laptop, tablet or mobile phone—to download the video and program guide with printable finger labyrinth.

Videos will also be produced for Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday and Good Friday.

American Baptist Home Mission Societies partners with American Baptists to promote Christian faith, cultivate Christ-centered leaders and disciples, and bring healing and transformation to communities across the United States and Puerto Rico.
