VALLEY FORGE, PA (ABNS 7/30/18)—American Baptist Home Mission Societies (ABHMS) is pleased to welcome Vincent William Dent Sr. as its new chief development officer.
As a member of ABHMS’ leadership team, Dent will implement and conduct an ongoing nationwide program to develop donor relations and secure major gifts in support of the organization’s ongoing mission to cultivate and equip Christ-centered leaders and disciples, while bringing healing and transformation to communities across the United States and Puerto Rico.
He will oversee all fundraising aspects, developing innovative events, campaigns, direct mail appeals and social media to secure cash contributions, in-kind goods and services, sponsorships, workplace contributions, pledges, stock gifts, grant awards, bequests and planned gifts as well as outright and deferred gifts from individuals, corporations, foundations and religious and civic organizations. He will both revitalize relationships with long-term legacy donors and seek new donors.
With more than 20 years of experience in senior development and management, including at faith-based organizations, Dent brings the ability to secure major philanthropic support to a mission-driven organization.
His previous positions have included senior major gift officer at United Lutheran Seminary, Philadelphia; senior director of Major Gifts and Planned Giving for the Overseas Council, Indianapolis, Ind.; vice president of Advancement for United Church Homes Inc., Marion, Ohio; vice president of Advancement at Liberty Lutheran Services, Ambler, Pa.; vice president of Development for Metropolitan Career Center, Philadelphia; and director of Major and Planned Gifts at East Stroudsburg (Pa.) University.
Dent holds a Juris Doctor degree from University of Detroit Mercy School of Law and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
