American Baptist Women’s Ministries Leads the Way with New Domestic Violence Training Series

KING OF PRUSSIA, PA (ABNS 10/18/24)—American Baptist Women’s Ministries (ABWM) is excited to present its upcoming virtual training series, “Domestic Violence: A Survivor-Centered Biblical Study,” led by the esteemed Rev. Simone Oliver. This impactful series will take place over three evenings on October 28, November 4, and November 11, 2024, from 6:00-8:30 pm ET / 3:00-5:30 pm PT, via Zoom.

This comprehensive training is designed to deepen participants’ understanding of domestic violence from a survivor’s perspective, enriched by a biblical framework. Rev. Simone Oliver, a respected preacher, educator, and life coach, will guide attendees through a thoughtful exploration of domestic violence’s personal and collective impacts. With her extensive experience as a certified Trauma Healing facilitator, Rev. Oliver will empower participants with insights and strategies to support victims effectively.

Rev. LaThelma Yenn-Batah, executive director of ABWM, shared, “American Baptist Women’s Ministries has a long history of offering impactful domestic violence trainings, but what makes this series especially unique is the opportunity to hear directly from survivors. Domestic violence affects everyone—individuals, families, and communities. This training is not just informational; it’s practical and empowering. Participants will walk away with real strategies for offering support and creating safer spaces, guided by the courageous voices of those who have lived through it.”

The series will cover themes such as “Biblical Foundation and the Personal Toll of Domestic Violence,” “The Collective Toll of Domestic Violence,” and “Learning from Survivors.” Attendees will engage in meaningful discussions and activities, delving into the complexities of domestic violence and its intersection with faith.

This training presents a unique opportunity for American Baptist women to engage with these critical issues and contribute to creating safer, more supportive communities. Registration is open, and participants are encouraged to secure their spots early. The cost is $85, with scholarships available for those in need. Please visit abwomensministries.org to register or apply for a scholarship.
