VALLEY FORGE, PA (ABNS 7/12/23)—American Baptist Churches USA is excited to release two new ways for churches, regions, and partners to get up to date information about United Mission. A new promotional video is now available in English and Spanish, highlighting the way American Baptists faithfully give to the heart of American Baptist mission. A new section on the ABCUSA website highlights all the resources available for promoting generosity, stewardship, and the United Mission offering. Access the United Mission Toolkit at www.abc-usa.org/united-mission-toolkit.
Churches and regions can quickly and easily access all the materials needed to give their congregations information explaining how United Mission is funded and distributed. Resources will be added periodically as they become available to continue the sacrificial giving by ABCUSA congregations. The information also gives details as to how United Mission funds are distributed. The thirty-three American Baptist regions receive sixty-five percent of all United Mission funds, thirty-five percent goes to support the many ministries of American Baptist Churches USA, including the ABCUSA Office of the General Secretary. The Office of the General Secretary is responsible for gathering the entirety of our churches, regions, and partners; supports congregations, regions, and partners, and creates space for local and global issues to be discussed and discerned.
The new United Mission video gives a clear visual picture of the ministry accomplished through United Mission. Every ABCUSA affiliated congregation pledges to give ten percent of their budget to United Mission. These mission funds enable our local regions to find pastors for congregations, train pastors and leaders, do conflict transformation and provide resources for local churches to join God’s mission in their neighborhoods.
