VALLEY FORGE, PA (ABNS 10/3/18)—During a recent three-day staff summit at the Mission Center, American Baptist Home Mission Societies (ABHMS) Executive Director Dr. Jeffrey Haggray announced staffing transitions that will undergird the organization’s mission to cultivate leaders, equip disciples, and heal and transform communities across the United States and Puerto Rico.
The Rev. Dr. Brenda Halliburton-Williams has been appointed director of the newly created Cultural Competency and Education unit. As such, she will develop a national education strategy that promotes cultural sensitivity across ministries. She had been serving as director of ABHMS’ Intercultural Ministries unit.
The Rev. Lauren Ng has been named director of the newly created Leadership Empowerment Ministries unit, which will encompass Chaplaincy and Specialized Ministries, the Scholarships and Emerging Leaders program and the “In Support of Excellence” initiative. Ng will continue serving as a lead strategist for Networks 7 and 8 as part of ABHMS’ Aligned Action Network strategy.
The Rev. Salvador Orellana has been named director of the Intercultural Ministries unit, which encompasses Asian Ministries, Black Church Ministries, Latino Ministries, Burma Refugees Ministries, Native American Ministries and Haitian Ministries. He will continue to serve as director of ABHMS’ “Rebuilding, Restoring, Renewing Puerto Rico” initiative.
The Rev. Dr. Marilyn P. Turner-Triplett has been appointed director of the newly created Healing and Transforming Communities unit, which encompasses Community Outreach Ministries, the Rizpah’s Children initiative, Disaster-response Ministries and Volunteer-mobilization Ministries.
