Judson Press Author Bolduc Named Finalist for 2015 Illumination Award

VALLEY FORGE, PA (ABNS 1/13/15)The Spiritual Art of Raising Children with Disabilities by Kathleen Deyer Bolduc has been named a finalist for the 2015 Illumination Awards. Winners were selected among 18 categories.

The Spiritual Art of Raising Children with Disabilities, selected as a Silver medalist in the Spirituality category, has been praised nationally by Christian leaders involved in disability ministry. As the mother of an adult son with autism, Bolduc understands the challenges. She uses a mosaic metaphor to explore the unique challenges of raising children with disabilities, and offers the spiritual disciplines as a framework for daily works of healing and restoration. Then, Bolduc offers readers bite-sized pieces of poetry, Scripture, personal narrative, and reflection to gently lead the reader into a deeper conversation with God.

Curtis Ramsey-Lucas, Executive Editor of The Christian Citizen and Director of Interfaith Engagement for the American Association of People with Disabilities, states, “Drawing on her own experience raising a child with disabilities and sharing the stories of other parents who have walked similar paths, Kathy Bolduc demonstrates what is possible when we pay attention to God’s presence in the midst of it all, with questions to ponder and reflections to consider along the way.”

The Illumination Book Awards are designed to honor and bring increased recognition to the year’s best new titles written and published with a Christian worldview. Award winners are chosen by experts from the fields of education, clergy, book production, and bookselling. Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals are awarded in each category.
