VALLEY FORGE, PA (ABNS 3/28/14)—Dwayne and Janet Doyle have been appointed by American Baptist International Ministries (IM) to serve as associate development workers in central Asia. The Doyles are currently living and serving in central Asia through Interserve USA. The Doyles’ home church is First Baptist Church in Mount Holly, New Jersey. Dwayne is an ordained American Baptist pastor; Janet is ordained through the Presbyterian Church.

Dwayne works in a village facility connected to an orphanage where boys ages 7–21 participate in a year-round sports club. Janet teaches English in the same village at a language center and runs an English club at a school for 1st through 11th grade students. Dwayne and Janet are working towards starting home fellowship groups among an indigenous unreached people group.

“The nations in this region of central Asia became independent following the collapse of the Soviet Union around 1991,” explains Dwayne. “Many of these new, mainly Muslim republics have suffered from civil war, revolution, ethnic conflict, corruption and religious persecution.”

Charles Jones, IM’s area director for Africa, Europe and the Middle East, says, “I look forward to supporting Dwayne and Janet and their family in their life and service in Central Asia. I pray and trust that their work will be fruitful and rewarding.”

When asked what he and his wife hope to accomplish, Dwayne responded, “We are looking forward to seeing young men and women come to know Jesus Christ as their personal Savior, and for those same people becoming mature believers who will take the gospel to their own people and to other people. We hope to use whatever gifts and talents the Lord has bestowed upon us to complete his work here on earth until he returns.”

The Doyles have two children, Andrew (10) and Sarah (12), who attend a private international school. Janet and Dwayne also work at this school as volunteers.

Using this type of joint appointment in addition to standard appointment enables IM to support the mobilization of greater numbers of American Baptists into God’s work throughout the world.
