VALLEY FORGE, PA (ABNS 4/16/12)—Susan Gottshall, associate executive director of Communications for American Baptist Home Mission Societies (ABHMS), has received a DeRose-Hinkhouse Memorial Award certificate of merit from Religion Communicators Council (RCC) for the 10-minute video “Getting God Back to the People.”
Created as a resource for ABHMS’ America for Christ Offering 2012, “Getting God Back to the People” offers an in-depth look at ABHMS’ commitment to discipleship, community and justice, from the organization’s beginning nearly two centuries ago to its present-day ministries. The video is a great way for Bible studies, Sunday school classes and other small groups to learn about home mission. An accompanying study guide is available.
Gottshall accepted the award at a ceremony held Thursday at Philadelphia Marriott Downtown hotel as part of RCC’s yearly national convention. The award was presented in the “Promotional/Informational Video” category.
Founded in 1929, RCC is an interfaith association of religion communicators.
The DeRose-Hinkhouse Memorial Awards are given annually to active members of RCC who demonstrate excellence in religious communications and public relations. The awards are named for Victor DeRose and Paul M. Hinkhouse, both late New York City lithographers and RCC supporters who advocated for communications excellence.
