VALLEY FORGE, PA (ABNS 10/18/11)—The Board of Directors of Green Lake Conference Center (GLCC) selected Ben Mott as their new President and Chief Executive Officer. Tom Jones, chair of the Board, said, “This is an extraordinary time for GLCC, and we anticipate that Ben will lead us in new and innovative ways.” Replacing current President/CEO Ken Giacoletto who is retiring after 18 years, Mott will begin his duties on January 2, 2012.
About the Search:
Jones added, “We conducted a thorough national search looking for someone with executive skills, spiritual maturity and the ability to bring our mission alive to the broader Green Lake family. We emphasize a people-focused culture and searched for someone whom we felt could get the best from our team. Most of all, we wanted to maximize our ability to be innovative, flexible, and customer-focused. We are working to support the church in all its difficult challenges, so our mission is critical.”
About the New CEO:
Mott has served as Vice President of Marketing at GLCC since 2002. He holds a B.A. in History from Durham University in England and an M.A. in History from Claremont Graduate University in California. He is married and has four children.
“We believe Ben provides an opportunity to achieve our twin objectives – to serve as the physical and spiritual home of American Baptists and to provide an inspiring place for denominations to work together to achieve goals we cannot achieve alone. For 68 years, Green Lake has served as a place where people meet to wrestle with the current issues facing the church. It is a holy place that allows individuals to experience a Closer Walk with God. We want to build on that heritage while broadening our reach to a wide group of Christian organizations – in the Midwest, the nation and the world.”
Mott commented on his selection, “I am honored and excited to be called to lead Green Lake Conference Center in its next chapter of ministry. We are wonderfully positioned to serve pastors, churches and ministries both from within the American Baptist Churches USA and among the wider Christian family. We will stand side-by-side with these organizations as they respond to the challenges and opportunities they face.”
About Green Lake:
Jones continued, “Green Lake Conference Center is a premier Christian conference and leadership training facility located in central Wisconsin. Our mission is to provide a Christian environment of serving, equipping, renewing and networking that helps to produce stronger disciples and churches. Founded by the American Baptists in 1943, the conference center partners with American Baptists and a wide range of other Christian organizations.”
“We offer transformational conferences for pastors, potential church planters, lay leaders, youth and families. With a capacity to serve over 1,200 people, we host many different Christian groups and organizations from other denominations that are responsible for their own conference design and content. We also enjoy serving a wide variety of groups that do not have a religious purpose, including university retreats, school environmental education groups, NGOs coming for training meetings, and many others. We are a favorite location for family reunions and vacationers.”
