Prayer Net

A Note from General Secretary and Denominational Pastor, Dr. A. Roy Medley

Welcome to this prayer fellowship! As General Secretary of the American Baptist Churches USA, I feel the need for your prayer support on a daily basis.

Knowing your prayer concerns will also help me to become better acquainted with our family of faith and to bond with you in ministry.

2 Chronicles 7:14 is an awesome verse of scripture, the power of which I yearn for in my life, my church, and our family of faith. “…if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, pray, seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” So let it be, as we yearn and pray for that healing. Centered in Christ and Focused in Mission,

A. Roy Medley

You are invited to join American Baptist General Secretary and denominational Pastor, Dr. A. Roy Medley, in an exciting new prayer opportunity. By joining PrayerNet, you covenant to pray with and for our American Baptist mission and Dr. Medley. This page will have prayer requests and scripture that will be updated once a week. If you wish to subscribe to PrayerNet, a “reminder” email will be sent to you each week when this page is updated. Each request will ask you to follow a “PATH”:

  • Praise God for...
  • Ask God for...
  • Thank God for...
  • Healing for...

These requests will focus on the mission and ministry that God has called us to as American Baptists. You will also have the opportunity to submit any prayer requests that you may have, and once a week, Dr. Medley and other staff will gather in the Mission Center chapel to pray for you and your requests. Even when Dr. Medley is traveling, staff members will gather and pray.

We acknowledge the need to pray. We are a people of “prayer, purpose and passion.” Please be encouraged to covenant with us as we carry out the ministry to which God has called us.

Logo choices Although I like Logo 1 option best, I wonder if the cut-out cross in the first letters will give the impression that WIM is a program of National Ministries, given that NM's logo features a similar cut-out cross. Submitted By: Virginia Holmstrom

Hopes I attended the ABWIM conferences in Las Vegas and St. Louis that Valentine organized the past few years and found those to be life giving to me personally and my ministry. I do think it is vital that women in ministry have an opportunity to gather together once a year to support, grow and encourage one another. The next event was going to be in Oregon, but that never was planned due to the budget cuts. I am in ministry and I happen to be a woman. I am the only Senior Pastor that is a woman in our region, but I have excellent relationships with my fellow pastors and so I have never felt slighted because of my gender. I am respected and have had the opportunity to serve the region in a number of ways. I would like to see a focus on all of us working together in ministry without the focus being on women vs. men. logo I eally don't like any of the logos. I feel a logo should have women to represent women, not just letters. or papers (that's what the 2nd one looks like to me) nor doves. I don't feel doves represent women Submitted By: Laura Sinclair

Logo Esteemed all: I ran these logo's by my wife, though not an American Baptist, she's also a woman in ministry (PCUSA). I asked her which one she liked better and her first impression was that neither proposed logo seem to represent what ABs want to show in our commitment to women in ministry. In short, there is no obvious reference to women, aside from the acronym. Just a thought, Rev. Amaury Tañón-Santos AB Nat'l Hispanic Caucus Submitted By: Rev. Amaury Tañón-Santos
