VALLEY FORGE, PA (ABNS 9/3/09)—Bridget Holmstrom has joined the staff of Mission Resource Development, and Brad Berglund has expanded his role with the Office of the General Secretary of the American Baptist Churches USA (ABCUSA).
Holmstrom began serving on September 1 as web manager/communication specialist, a position that has been vacant for over a year.
In July, Berglund began his part-time position of Biennial manager/consultant for the 2011 Biennial, to be held in Puerto Rico, June 24-26.
“We’re very excited about the gifts both of these persons bring to ABC,” said Leo Thorne, associate general secretary for Mission Resource Development (MRD).
“We look forward to working with them and anticipate a broadening and deepening of the work in MRD and in the Office of the General Secretary (OGS)."
MRD is reorganizing and redefining its work to focus more attention on the major areas of development, stewardship and United Mission, and the biennial.
Holmstrom comes to the position after three years working with nonprofit associations in the Washington, D.C. area. She brings to her new position considerable depth in web communications, including social media network experience, and an extensive background in writing and editing.
She earned a Master of Public Administration with a focus in Nonprofit Management from George Mason University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Elon University.
Berglund is familiar to biennial participants as the worship designer for the last two biennial meetings of ABC.
“He has infused our Biennial meetings with strong worship and a wide range of music and worship styles,” Thorne noted, adding that, “Brad will help us go where we need to be in envisioning new and spiritually refreshing ways to celebrate God's work in our ABC family.”
American Baptist Churches is one of the most diverse Christian denominations today, with 5,500 local congregations comprised of 1.3 million members across the United States and Puerto Rico, all engaged in God’s mission around the world.
