VALLEY FORGE, PA (ABNS – 7/28/09)—The lunch programs sponsored by American Baptist International Ministries on Saturday, June 27th and Sunday, June 28th were a chance to give Biennial delegates and attendees a brief snapshot of what they might expect to find at the World Mission Conference.
Attendees were able to ask questions and get to know more than 20 IM missionaries during the boxed lunch talks. That was followed by dynamic storytelling, international music, and interactive elements designed to create a personal experience for lunch-goers.
Special Baptist guests from Serbia, Japan and Burma were also in attendance and were able to share their experiences as they minister and seek to bring the Gospel to other cultures.
The World Mission Conference is an opportunity for American Baptists to connect with foreign missions through music, speakers, workshops and personal contact with missionaries. Formerly an annual gathering for the denomination, the World Mission Conference now travels to various regions to bring the experience directly to churches 3 to 4 times each year.
In 2010, the World Mission Conference will be hosted in Indiana/Kentucky at Franklin College from July 11-13. Another opportunity will be in Vermont/New Hampshire, likely in May, while a west coast visit is currently in the works.
