It is with a heavy heart that International Ministries announces the passing of beloved missionary Rosa Iris Morales on Wednesday, July 28, 2010. Iris courageously battled cancer since 2007 and died peacefully surrounded by family and friends in a hospital in Houston Texas.
The Office of Immigration and Refugee Services of American Baptist Home Mission Societies seeks assistance from Haitian American Baptist churches to help spread the news that U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has announced an additional 180 days for eligible Haitian nationals to apply for Temporary Protected Status (TPS), a relief program launched in response to the catastrophic earthquake in Haiti earlier this year.
More than 130 people representing 14 different ethnicities gathered in Chicago in June for the Asian Pastors/Seminarians/Young Adults Conference and the Asian American Baptist Caucus Convocation. The conference—“Living in the Present…Facing the Future”—was sponsored by American Baptist Home Mission Societies.
American Baptist International Ministries (IM) is pleased to announce that Dagoberto (Dago) and Dilia Marleni Zelaya have been approved as endorsed missionary candidates for service in Azacualpa, Honduras. The Zelayas will be jointly appointed by IM and their home church, First Baptist Church, Marshalltown, Iowa. They will be the first commissioned American Baptist missionaries to serve in Honduras, and will focus on education and evangelism.
In the last several days the Board of Directors of the American Baptist Foundation, in a spirit of prayer and unity, has been crafting a new model to position the Foundation for future growth. This model responds to consultations with the Foundation’s members: the Multi-Region Corporation (composed of 31 American Baptist regions nationwide), the American Baptist Home Mission Societies, and American Baptist International Ministries.
