Xtreme Team Heads To Russia

IM Learning Experiences Proved Popular Destinations At ABCUSA Biennial

Workshops are an integral part of the learning experience for attendees at the Biennial Meeting of the American Baptist Churches.  The International Ministries (IM) workshops offered by the missionaries proved to be very popular with the Biennial crowd this year.

ABCUSA Launches New Website

The Office of the General Secretary, ABCUSA, today announced the release of a new website for the denomination. The site's address will remain the same—www.abc-usa.org—but the site has been aesthetically and functionally redesigned to more effectively serve those who use it.

National Ministries Celebrates Resettlement Of 100,000 Refugees

At the ABCUSA 2009 Biennial, June 26-28, American Baptists celebrated the resettlement of more than 100,000 refugees through National Ministries’ Direct Human Services office since the cooperative effort with Church World Service began after World War II.

Structure Proposal Defeated In Close Vote

At the Saturday business session of the American Baptist Biennial meeting in Pasadena, CA, delegates narrowly defeated the by-law changes brought by the General Board. 377 delegates voted in favor of the changes and 217 opposed them, with 20 abstentions. Two-thirds of the delegates present are needed for by-law changes to be accepted.

Good News And Stirring Sermon Kick Off ABCUSA Biennial Meeting

The opening worship service of the Biennial Meeting of the American Baptist Churches USA began on June 26 with the blare of a Mariachi Band, and ended with the swell of an old hymn tune adorned with new words.
