Rev. Dr. Lee B. Spitzer arrives at the Mission Center on his first day in the office as General Secretary

Rev Judy Fackenthal, president of American Baptist Churches USA, shared the following welcome message on June 1, 2017:

Today marks the beginning of a new chapter in the life of American Baptist Churches USA as we welcome Rev. Dr. Lee B. Spitzer as the General Secretary.

Please welcome Dr. Spitzer with your prayer support and encouragement.  We look forward to this new day and how God will continue to guide American Baptists as we live out the calling of our faith in our Lord, Jesus Christ.

The General Secretary Search Committee presented Dr. Spitzer to the Board of General Ministries as their selected candidate during a special meeting of the Board on May 8. After hearing Dr. Spitzer’s vision for the position and our denomination, the board engaged him in a time of Q&A, followed by an Executive Session of the Board where the vote was brought forward. Dr. Spitzer received a majority vote from the Board of General Ministries which is in compliance with ABCUSA bylaws. We welcome him on his first day in service as General Secretary.

May God’s grace and wisdom be with Dr. Spitzer and with all of us in the great family called American Baptists.
